Fred - What is the thingymajig that you bought for making the yarn indicators?

Thanks

Stu,

It's just called a NZ strike indicator tool. It's way too expensive for what it is. I also make them and have the wool and tubing. they work exactly the same

If you want one PM me.

Thanks folks a few things for me to think about adjusting.
Seems to me that a sliding top fly if i make it work has advantages over an indicator in that it might also take a few fish. Ive heard of using a wee rubber tube on the fly hook to allow it to be slid up and down the leader if my wedging the eye on the fly idea does nt work ok.
Saying that plenty of experienced fishers seem to go with the indicator , why would that be do you think ?
Spend most of my time loch fishing so not thought too much about things like this but I'm moving in a week and there is a small river with trout 500 m from my door hence the interest.  :)

You can use a sliding top dropper with your Dry/Indicator to if you so wish.

I have found that you need to use 0,16 or above mono if you don't want broken off by fish. It's not the   most reliable knot i find.I use the NZ indicator when a bit windy for my usual nymphing methods. It's very good indicator for sure.Cheers
