garmen etrex 30

[Its Me]

I am waiting for the above to arrive. Any ideas on what free maps i should go for.I see a few on google but do not have a clue what to go for.Garmen maps are too expensive at £125.
I will be using it for heading into the hills to fish some lochs and for driving.

Might be able to help you out there - I have the Etrex 20 & got a copy of the open source os mapping put on a 2gb micro sd card by someone on the outdoors magic forum... I'll dig it out & see if I can copy the files - if so you could send me a 2gb card & I can copy the files onto it & send back to you - it should work but no guarantees!
The open source mapping is pretty good - maybe 90% as good as the real OS - but then the only real differences are occasional smaller hill lochs either misnamed or missing altogether. Its certainly worked perfectly well for my ventures.
