Black Midge

A fly no angler should be without is a small black midge. Summer or winter you will always find them on the water, and so will Mr. Trout.

The beauty of midge patterns is that they don?t need to be complicated, a bit of dubbing and a hackle is all that?s needed.
Stick one on anytime you can?t see what the fish are taking, chances are it?ll work.


Instructions assume right-handed tyers.

HOOK ? Kamasan B410 #20
THREAD ? Black Gudebrod 10/0
HACKLE ? Black Cock
BODY ? Black Beaver

STEP 1
Attach the thread.



STEP 2
Tie in the hackle.



STEP 3
Take the thread to near the hook bend, then apply a pinch of dubbing to the thread.



Then wrap to form the body.



STEP 4
Wrap the hackle and tie off.



STEP 5
Whipfinish and varnish for the completed fly.



And there you have it, the simplest of flies, but oh so deadly!
