Iron Blue Dun Spider

Some flies need little of no introduction, so without further ado??.

Instructions assume right-handed tyers.

HOOK ? Kamasan B175 #14
THREAD ? Claret Benecchi 8/0
HACKLE ? Iron Blue Dun Hen
TAG ? Thread
BODY ? Touch Dubbed Mole

STEP 1
Attach the thread and tie the hackle in.



STEP 2
Advance the thread to the hook bend, then back for 3 or 4 turns to form the tag. Touch dub the thread with mole fur.



Then wrap to form the body.



STEP 3
Wrap the hackle and tie off.



STEP 4
Whipfinish and detach the thread.



Varnish for the completed fly.



As an alternative follow the instructions above substituting a starling hackle for the hen hackle.

I agree with Col, the starling version looks great.
