This one is a challenge of a different type.
I am building a 1/8th scale model of a rowing boat (that is 1" in the model = 8" in the real thing) and intend to fit it out with rod, reel, net, fishing bag etc.
But what about flies.
I know that some of you guys can tie onto extremely small hooks, but the issue here would be one of scale.
A size 24 (or smaller) would need to be tied with a (real life) salmon pattern for a size 4.
Anyone want to take on the challenge?
I am happy to pay (subject to prior arrangement), or make a donation to the forum.
Any takers?

Lost and waiting for you,
Go."

It's not that hard to tie fleas that small, but scaling the materials down to that size will be the problem.
Just for the fun I would be willing to give it a try, as long as they do not have to be full-dressed salmonflies.
How many would you be needing Ken?
Btw, I'd do it as a challenge, so no payment required to me.
Any donation to the forum will be welcome I guess...
Cheers, Hans

Thanks Hans.
The idea as to have a fly box, open, in the (1/8 model) boat with something that looks like a selection of flies.
So they will have to look appropriate, but they are not going to be examined by experts.
I've built the boat, and am now working on the details- oars, rod, reel, line, net, priest, fishing bag, vacuum flask, hip flask etc.
The model will be a gift to a regular customer of the Tomdoun Hotel (www.tomdoun.com) who made a generous gift to the hotel.
I'll make a donation to the forum (full price, not 1/8th!) for the flies.
6-12 would do it.
Regards
Ken

I was just going to say that fellow Hans may be able to help but see he's beat me to it.   :)

I can see where you're coming from Hans as hair dressed flies would be a b****** to do but I suppose there may be a bit of a challenge to find substitute acceptable materials or even scale the dressing down enough to still present a nice representation.

Would be nice to see photo's of the finished article boat, fisherman et al,.

I nominate a pot bellied pig pattern for the project by the way.

I'll get my coat and close the door on the way out.

for hair wings it should be possible to use feather fibres, maybe hen or cock hackles?

Photos, and a full story of the process will follow (probably in a new thread) if anyone is interested.

One of the smallies I am tying at the moment on a size 24 hook.
Hope they will do.

Magnificent.
I am working on the reel seat on the rod just now, I may post some pics later.
If anyone is interested.
Thanks Hans.
