Tied a few of these today and thought I would try a wee step by step if others wanted to try some.
(Apologies for the crap photo's)

Pearly Willie Ross

Hook- Kamasan B175 size 12-8
Thread- Black
Tail - Golden Pheasant Tippets
Body- Medium pearl tinsel
Rib- Copper wire
Hackles- Hen - one Black one Red

Step 1

Tie in seven or eight tippets just before the hook bend

Step 2

Tie in the copper wire

Step 3

Next tie in the pearly tinsel

Step 4

Now with touching turns- bring the pearly tinsel up the hook length stopping three quarters of the length of the hook and tie off.

Step 5

Now in the opposite direction wrap the copper wire round the tinsel body and tie off with a couple of turns of thread.

Step 6

First tie in your Black Hen hackle

Step 7

Make two or three turns with the black before tying off and trimming

[attachimg=7]

Step 8

Now tie on the red hen hackle

[attachimg=8]

Step 9

Three or four turns of the red before tying off and trimming

Step 10

Finally pull the hackles back towards the hook bend whilst forming the head with turns of black thread then whip finish

I was eyeing it up in the WHYTT thread, liked the look of it and thought I'd have a go at it - you've just made that a whole lot easier.  :8)

Aye, very nice SBS Bushy, nothing wrong with the photography side of it either.

I have to say, I like it before the red hackle went on too.

Ardbeg

Aye, I tie them like that too- Pearly Pennels.

Hopefully some of you guys will give them a try as it seems I won't get a chance to wet one for a wee while due to hurting my arm.

Nice fly, hope it catches more fish than it's brother Peter.
