The feathers from in this bird are generally too coarse for dressing small flies, but the barred black and white flank feather is used a lot on various "fancy" flies, the "Peter Ross" being a typical and famous example, as bunched,  slip, or rolled wings, and was also once used on some soft feather winged flies as bunched or rolled wings See, David Webster, "The Angler and the Loop Rod"
