Various wing feathers from domestic white geese are used dyed as a substitute for other feathers. The herl from the primaries is often used dyed as a substitute for other herls. It is not as robust as many though. Various feathers from other geese may also be used for various things, but apart from using the herl from the primaries they are too coarse for small flies.  Salmon fly dressers used the dyed goose a lot for "Married" and other wings.
