Materials

[attachimg=1]
Veniards Glister Sparkle Dubbing – dark olive

[attachimg=2]
Evazote Olive Foam Sheet 1/8th inch

[attachimg=3]
White McFlylon for the post

[attachimg=4]
Olive Flexifloss for the legs

[attachimg=5]
Longshank Size 10 hook

[attachimg=6]
Olive Thread

Tying

[attachimg=7]
Run the thread down from the eye to opposite the hook point then back up to the eye. Apply a light coat of superglue to the thread you have just laid down.

[attachimg=8]
Cut a strip of foam about 4mm wide – leave it long so you have lots to work with.

[attachimg=9]
Tie the foam in as shown, run the thread back to the eye then dub the thread.

[attachimg=10]
With the dubbed thread form an  under body as shown.

[attachimg=11]
Form the rear segment as shown then tie in the two pairs of rear legs, one  on each side.

[attachimg=12]
Pull all the legs back and hold them out of the way as shown with a clip.

[attachimg=13]
Form the middle and front segments.

[attachimg=14]
Pull the foam back over the front segment and tie in.

[attachimg=15]
Tie in the two pairs of front legs, one pair on each side.

[attachimg=16]
Pull back all the legs except for the front most- one on each side and hold back out of the way with a clip,  tie in the post.

[attachimg=17]
Now pull  back all the legs , hold back out of the way with a clip and whip finish.

[attachimg=18]
Trim the legs and post. Leave them long as shown below. Trim off the waste foam leaving a small tag end as that helps to keep the post vertical.

Go and catch fish.

Lindsay, I have found the 8 leg olive one better on rivers. The big bad black boy should work too though

Excellent SBS Fred, thanks for taking the time to post it.
I used to be a surrealist but now I'm just fish.

Wildfisher
