This is what you do when you feel like having a bit of fun.
Tying micro flies is not as difficult as you would imagine, the important thing to remember is to scale everything down accordingly.
This is a very good pattern to use when trout are smutting. Tie it in the 18 - 28 size range, don't forget to scale everything down, that includes your tackle. This is not one for a #6 rod.
Have fun!

Instructions assume right-handed tyers

HOOK -  TMC 100  size 28
THREAD ? Black 10/0 Gudebrod.
BODY ? Fine black polypropylene dubbing
HACKLE ? Black Cock.
POST -  Fine Nylon. (I have used 2.4lb copolymer)

STEP 1
Mount the hook in the vice and attach the thread, then wrap to about mid-shank. Then tie in a length of nylon for the parachute. Nibble the end slightly to help improve grip and tie in so that the long tag is over the eye

STEP 2
Now take the end pointing over the eye and make a loop so that the end still points over the eye, like a loop the loop on a roller coaster. Tie it down, be firm but not tight, you?re going to pull it later.

STEP 3
Tie in the hackle, next to the post. Wrap the thread to the hook bend.

STEP 4
Apply a very small pinch of dubbing and form the body, then whip finish and throw away the thread, you won?t need it anymore.

STEP 5
Now  with the loop of nylon in the gallows tool, wrap the hackle round it. Start at the bottom and work upward, then using tweezers, pull the hackle tip through the loop.
I?ve used hackle pliers here so that I could let go to take the picture.

STEP 6
Now, still holding the hackle tip, pull on the tag you left over the eye to close the loop.

STEP 7
When the hook on the gallows tool is on top of the hackle pull it out, don?t forget you should still be holding the hackle tip, then finish closing the loop by pulling any slack left in it. Don?t pull too tight though or you will slice through the hackle!

STEP 8
Snip the hackle tip off for the finished fly.

Sorry guys if I got your hopes (or anything else for that matter) up  :P

Wee bri, well done that man! I must confess it never occurred to me to use thread for the loop. I would probably use GSP for strength though and tie in carefully, that stuff is slippery, it would need doubling back for security.
