This is the Klinkhamer Special, another from the mind of Hans van Klinken. The way I tie the Klinkhammer varies slightly from HvK?s. You can see the original here... http://www.danica.com/flytier/hklinken/klinkhamer_special.htm
Change the colours to suit whatever you are imitating.

Instructions assume right-handed tyers.

HOOK ? Partridge Klinkhamer Extreme #18
THREAD ? Grey Roman Moser Power Silk
BODY ? Spirit River Fine & Dry (Adams Grey) (or any fine dubbing)
WING ? White Poly Yarn
HACKLE ? Photodyed Blue Dun
THORAX ? Peacock Herl.

STEP 1
Mount the hook in the vice, attach the thread and wrap to the point shown.

STEP 2
Mount the wing post as shown in part 1b here ? http://www.wildfisher.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=4747.0
Return the thread to the eye

STEP 3
Tie in two Peacock Herls, then as you trap the butts when you reach the wing tie in the hackle, continue wrapping to the point shown.

STEP 4
Wrap the Herl from the eye to the Point shown and tie off.  When you reach the base of the wing do a couple of figure of eight wraps to cover the root of the wing.

STEP 5
Wrap the thread well round the bend and apply your chosen dubbing.

STEP 6
Wrap to form the body.

STEP 7
After forming the body cord the thread by spinning the bobbin clockwise, then take the thread through the thorax in two open turns to finish at the point shown.

Then bring it round the wing post as shown and let it hang.

STEP 8
Reposition the hook as shown. The thread will now be hanging down the far side of the wing post. The wing post is now your tying medium.

STEP 9
Wrap the thread up the wing post trapping the hackle stem as you go. Then wrap the thread back down the wing post.

STEP 10
Wrap the hackle in touching clockwise turns down the wing post. When you reach the base hold the hackle tip as shown. (In front of the wing post)

Now take two thread wraps between the hook shank and the bottom hackle wrap, trapping the hackle tip to the wing post.

STEP 11
Trim the waste hackle trip and form a whipfinish between the hook shank the bottom hackle wrap.

Insert a needle loaded with a little varnish into the whipfinish loop so that when you pull the whipfinish tight and withdraw the needle you will leave some varnish on the whipfinish.

STEP 12
Finally trim the wing to length for the completed fly.
