This is the Olive Wooly Bugger, an excellent summer lure. You can weight this one with lead wire if you like.

Instructions assume right-handed tyers

HOOK ? L/S 10
THREAD ? Olive 6/0 Uni-thread
RIB ? Oval Gold
TAIL ? Olive Grizzly Marabou
BODY ? Olive Chenille
PALMER ? Grizzle Dyed Olive
HEAD ? Chartreuse Chenille or Fritz

STEP 1
Mount the hook in the vice, apply a spot of superglue to the thread. Overwrap the glue with lead wire.

Overwrap the lead wire with thread wraps.

STEP 2
Tie in the rib under the hook shank.

STEP 3
Tie the marabou in on top of the hook shank. In other step by steps I have shown you how to prepare marabou for tying in to avoid bulk. Not this one. On this one we want to use the bulk from the marabou to fill the gap in between the tail and the end of the lead wraps. Cut the butts to fill this gap.

STEP 4
Prepare the chenille for tying in by stripping some of it from the core.

Then tie in and wrap the thread to the point shown.

STEP 5
Wrap the chenille forward and tie off.

STEP 6
          Tie in the hackle.

.

Then wrap (palmer) down the body. Catch the tip in with the ribbing tinsel and continue wrapping the tinsel through the hackle to the end of the body. Tie off and trim waste.

STEP 7
Now prepare the Chartreuse Chenille  the same way as the body chenille and tie in.

STEP 8
Wrap the chenille to the eye and tie off and trim waste.

STEP 9
Finally, form a neat head, whipfinish and varnish for the completed fly.

For something with a bit more ?IN YOUR FACE? about it follow STEP 1 ? 6 above, then?.

STEP 7 (A)
Prepare some Chartreuse Fritz the same way you prepared the chenille and tie in.

STEP 8 (A)
Wrap toward the eye. With each turn of Fritz use your left hand to sweep the fibres back.

STEP 9 (A)
Tie off, trim waste, form a neat head, whipfinish and varnish for the completed fly.

Both flys together for comparison.
