This is the Bubble Midge, great when trout are taking hatching buzzers. Alter the colour to suit whatever buzzers are hatching.

Instructions assume right-handed tyers

HOOK - Kamasan B100
THREAD - Black 8/0
RIB- stretched pearl tinsel
BUBBLE WING - CDC
WING BUDS - Grizzle and Pearl Chrystal hair
THORAX - Midge Black SLF  (MC15)

STEP 1
Mount the hook in the vice, attach the thread, wind down round the bend catching in the rib as you go.

STEP 2
Wind the thread followed by the rib to the point shown

STEP 3
Catch in the two CDC feathers as shown, these will form the bubble.

STEP 4
Tie in two strands of Chrystal hair, one either side.

Then trim to length.

STEP 5
Prepare the Grizzle hackle by snipping the centre out as shown.

STEP 6
Put the ?V? of the hackle as shown, so that it straddles the CDC on both sides and tie In.

STEP 7
Trim the waste hackle and cover the butts with tight wraps. Add a generous pinch of dubbing to the thread.

Then wrap to form the thorax.

STEP 8
Pull the two CDC  fibres over as shown to form the bubble, leave any straggly fibres as they are. You can alter the size of the bubble wing to suit.

STEP 9
Trim waste and cover the butts. Form a small head, whipfinish and varnish for the completed fly.

STEP 10
Attach fly to leader, cast out and hold on.
If you give it an occasional tug the fly will be drawn under the water and pop back up, which the fish often find irresistible.
