A variation of the Black and Red tube fly.
This one has caught me a few sea trout during the day, and it?s very easy to tie.

Instructions assume right-handed tyers

5-10mm tube
THREAD ? Red 6/0 UNI-Thread
BODY ? Red Holographic Tinsel
WING ? Very sparse Black Arctic Fox
HEAD ? Red

STEP 1
Mount the tube in a ?blind eye? salmon iron. Attach the thread and wrap to the point shown.

STEP 2
Cut the tinsel to a point and tie in.

STEP 3
Apply a film of superglue or varnish to body of the tube, then wrap the tinsel to the tail and back and tie off.

STEP 4
Tie in a very sparse wing of Arctic Fox Tail.

STEP 5
Trim the waste, form a neat head, whipfinish and varnish for the completed fly.
You can either use Red varnish or, as I have used here, clear varnish.

That?s it, a very simple but effective Sea Trout fly.
You could also tie this one on single and double hooks.

Jesus,

That's the ugliest flee I've seen you tie up.

If I was a fish I would give that one a miss

Sometimes you look at the flies tied up and they catch more anglers than fish  :D :D but sometimes the simple patterns do the bizz better than all the Fancy Dan ones.

I asked Bruce if he had to pick one fly for the season what it would be and he chose the "Charlie McLean"

Do you have the pattern for that and would welcome your usual top class instruction with pics.

All the best

Don't know that one Richy, I'll see if I can find it, or if someone knows the pattern....
