Well it?s in the cinemas so it should be on here. Like the celluloid version the piscatorial version is all singing! Originally designed by Richard Walker and Peter Thomas, Walker actually wrote that if he were restricted to one stillwater fly this would be it? Who am I to argue? Not so well known is that this, like a great many stillwater lures, is an excellent Seatrout fly. It would, I think, also serve well as a Salmon fly and I?m sure as a Steelhead fly.
Dressed, of course, on hooks and in sizes appropriate to the target species. I particularly like this tied on a standard #12 wet fly hook and fished as a traditional wet fly.

Instructions assume right-handed tyers.

HOOK ? Kamasan B800 #10
THREAD ? Black 6/0
RIB ? Medium Flat Silver Tinsel
BODY ? Black Floss
THROAT ? Fluorescent Magenta Floss
THROAT HACKLE ? Scarlet Hackle fibres
WING ? Black Squirrel

STEP 1
Attach the thread and wrap to the hook bend. Catch the rib in as you go then return the thread to the shoulder.

STEP 2
Tie the body floss in at the shoulder.

Then wrap it to the hook bend and back to the shoulder.

STEP 3
Wrap the rib in evenly spaced turns and tie off.

STEP 4
Tie in the floss for the throat.

Then wrap it as shown towards the body and back to the shoulder to form the throat.

STEP 5
Invert the hook and tie in the hackle fibres for the beard.

STEP 6
Turn the hook back to its normal position and measure and tie in the wing. Keep the wing fairly slim.

Once you have a couple of turns on to secure the wing give the roots a generous dab of varnish.

STEP 7
Bind the waste ends of the wing down with tight wraps.

STEP 8
Finally, whipfinish and varnish for the completed fly.

Nice one. I'll bet that would be a first class salmon fly!

I hope the fly is better than the film!

Watched it last night and it's certainly not my cup of tea.
Bits of it were mildly amusing, but mostly it was just crap.
