This pattern was featured on a DVD I watched recently and caught my eye. So I did a few for the impending mayfly hatches and thought, as you do, I might as well do a sbs of it.
The DVD stated ?Silver? Z-Lon for the wing, I don?t have or know of silver Z-Lon so I?ve used a light dun which is quite silvery in appearance.

Instructions assume right-handed tyers.

HOOK ? Kamasan B200R #12
THREAD ? Grey Roman Moser Power Silk
TAIL ? 3 Dyed Black PT Fibres under Brown Z-Lon (or similar)
BUTT/HEAD ? 50/50 Fiery Brown and Dark Brown Seals Fur
BODY ? Cream Orvis Spectrablend
RIB ? Oval Pearl Tinsel
WING ? Light Dun Z-Lon
HACKLE ? Yellow and Grey CDC (formed in the MP Magic Tool)

STEP 1
Attach the thread and wrap towards the bend.

STEP 2
Mount the tails. Not too long.

Followed by the Z-Lon over and slightly longer.

STEP 3
Tie in the oval pearl rib.

STEP 4
Apply a pinch of dubbing to the thread and wrap to form the butt.

STEP 5
Apply a generous pinch of dubbing and wrap to form the body.

STEP 6
Wrap the rib in evenly spaced turns. Then tie in the wing with a couple of figure of eight wraps.

Then pull both sides of the wings together over the body and make two or three thread wraps to hold in this position.

Then trim the wings at an angle to length.

Finally, for the wings, take a black marker and dab a couple of spots on the wing to leave a variegated effect.

STEP 7
Put one grey and one lemon yellow CDC feather in the MP Magic tool and prepare for the hackle.
Insert the prepared hackle in a split thread dubbing loop.

I thinned it out a little before spinning so as not to give too dense a hackle.
After spinning wrap to form the hackle.

STEP 8
Apply another pinch of dubbing and wrap to form the head.

STEP 9
Whipfinish and varnish, then give the whole fly a brush with Velcro to complete.
