Another shrimp and this time a little more subtle than the pink shrimp.
This one is a very easy tie.
I?ve also shown a different method of weighting on this one.

Instructions assume right-handed tyers.

HOOK ? Kamasan B110 #12
WEIGHT ? Adhesive Flat Lead Foil
THREAD ? Grey Roman Moser Power Silk
RIB ? Clear Nylon
BACK ? Olive Flexi Body
BODY ? Ostrich Herl

STEP 1
Mount the hook and wrap a layer of lead from the bend to the shoulder, then wrap it back on itself about ? way to the bend.

Then attach the thread and cover the lead with criss cross wraps of thread.

STEP 2
Nibble the end of the nylon and tie in on the far side of the hook.

STEP 3
Tie in the back material on top of the hook.

STEP 4
Tie in the Ostrich Herl. I have used 2 olive and 2 dun Herls here, you can use any combination of colours you wish or even a single colour.

Twist them into a rope and wrap to form the body.

STEP 5
Pull the back material over and tie down securely at the head.

STEP 6
Follow with the rib and tie off securely at the head.

STEP 7
Whip finish and detach the thread. If necessary give the body a rub with Velcro to free any trapped fibres. Then varnish for the completed fly.

On stillwaters/lochs I always found either a dead drift or slow figure of eight with occasional tweaks/twitches seemed to work best.

Normally you'll find them round weed beds in fairly shallow water. Next time you're at the water pull a clump of weed out and have a good old look at it, you just might be surprised.

Excuse my ignorance. I am a non-tier.
What is "the material"?

Love the look of these 3 flies.

The back "material" in this instance was Flexi-Body.
