Title: Argos Flies
Post by: Wildfisher on August 11, 2004, 08:13:22 PM
Which flies did you catch your fish on at the 2004  Loch Laidon Argos tent rally? Almost all of mine were taken on a deer hair emerger type variant with a fairly heavy wing.  Only the wing was ginked and it was fished in the surface film. Two variants were used, one with an olive body, one with claret, both worked well.

Body : claret or olive seals fur
Rib : Fine holographic tinsel
Wing: Very dark roe deer hair
Head :(thorax?) a pinch  of red rabbit fur

Green Tailed Kate was the flee that worked for me Fred. I ginked it up and drew it through the water in short bursts and the troots went ballistic for it.

Tried the Heather fly and hooked one but must have risen at least a dozen but could not hook the fast wee buggers.

All my fish were caught on the surface and did not hook a single trout under the surface !!

All the best
