Found a site that has loads of old flees on it and its quite interesting. We all seem to use a fly for so long then a "Fish Magnet" is born and the auld faithfulls disappear to the back of the box.  :?

Try it as its worth a wee look

Richy i inherited a box of flies from my brother in laws grandda.

They looked abit drab to a young stocky basher so I stuck them in the back of a cupboard.  After quite a few years i found them again and had a second more informed looked.  There were about a hundred odd flies all hand tied, no vices in his day, it was a gold mine mixture of clyde style wets, spiders, emergers, spinners, dries. The quality of the tying is something else, some are a fair size but others are tiny and really intricate, I couldnt tie half of them if i tried.

I use them for my river fishing now and they account for most of the fish i catch an i curse when i loose them because I know they wont be replaced.

I'm sure the old fella would be glad they ended up in a good home!
