Normally when I publish a video there is an initial sharp rise in views over the first week.

My last one on the salmon run on our local river was different with two late spikes in views and it's still going on. What is going on?

The link to it has been posted elsewhere possibly?

Wildfisher

No way of knowing Ian. OK the views are still not massive, but those are two very distinct sudden rises

Only about 8% of views come from external links. The vast bulk come from YT recommendations and the YT home page. So why would YT suddenly start promoting it?

Wildfisher

It just gets more weird. Above 4000 now and lots of new subscribers. The mysteries of the YT algorithm.  :)

Number of total views perhaps? The next thing is they will probably want you to monetarise it and have adds :)

It's already monetised Sandy. A few years back google changed the rules. If you do not monetise the channel they can put ads on it anyway and keep  100% of the takings.

I take it then I don't get enough visits :)
