Jackdaw ( Corvus monedula 13") provides some useful hackles, from the neck and body. The ruff is also used for a number of spiders. The feathers around the nape are grey. Body feathers may also be used as a subtitute for various other dark blue dun feathers. The image is rather brown tinted, the bird is mainly black with some grey feathers. Some feathers are also iridescent. The skin is shown below. The scalp is often sold separately for fly-dressing purposes.
