Anyone got it?
I have been trying to download a free, essential, software update (257MB) but speeds here are so slow that the connection drops out.
As far as I can find out, download is the only way to get the update.
So, could a nice person download it for me and post it on a CD?
Costs covered or a donation to the forum.

Nae problem, it's on a CD I'll post it tomorrow.
It downloaded in 2 minutes by the way, not that I'm gloating of course! :D
Of course you are not gloating- as in not much!
One of the kids in the Glen was given homework that required a video to be downloaded, it took fourteen hours!
Donation made.

Thank for the donation Ken. Broadband speeds in rural areas is a scandal. It was shit beyond belief where I lived before, We are rural here but not remote. I get 20 Meg download on the old system and was told high speed fibre would be here in 6 months. That was almost 2 years ago. 20 Meg is fast enough for everything I do so I'm not too bothered.
0.2- 0.5 Meg here, promises of 10 Meg "within a year" when we made our decision to move here thirteen years ago- hee haw chance of that.
Move here now and you will get no broadband whatsoever, the exchange is at capacity.
You have to resort to satellite, at £20 per month with a download limit of 10GB- a family of four will use that easily on Windows and security updates.
For information, the statement that "all of the UK will have the right to fast broadband by 2020" is worth examining. In the new doublespeak "all" means 95% (one in twenty households get zip) and the "right" is similar to my "right" to a 100 meter, luxury, super yacht for my fishing- I have the right but not the money.
Currently getting about 140Meg Must admit i like Virgin .....
Disc has arrived safe and well, update installed.
Many thanks Fred.

Good stuff! :D
