Preparing a hackle

Just watched the video's of Scotfly, as said, very useful indeed!
Below is my way of preparing a hackle before tying it in.
I cut of the part of the hackle with the fluffy wed, and with very fine-pointed sharp scissors I cut of a few barbules, thus creating a sort of saw.
You only need a few turns of thread to secure the hackle.
This is especially useful when tying smaller flies.
