Title: Sedge
Post by: paulr on July 02, 2009, 12:52:37 PM
I posted this on another thread but can anyone identify it for me?
I thought it looked a bit different from the great red sedge?
I can't find a decent guide.
cheers

Paul

It's not an alder fly Breac, it didn't have the transparent veined wings.
It's wings are more a kind of papery brown.
I have some more photos of it I'll post later.

thanks

Paul

Could be a Large Cinnamon Sedge. Would like to see a better picture of the wings if possible, those ones are a bit crumpled and it is hard to see if there are any markings.

Aye Ardbeg,
It doesn't help that there appear to be more than 200 species in Britain!
Here are more photos of the beastie for anyone who is interested.

Looks like it is the Great Red Sedge.
