Title: Shredge
Post by: scotfly on February 15, 2008, 08:48:55 AM
This fly was devised by Tony Knight. He devised it to be an imitation of a shrimp, hatching sedge or sedge pupa.
Clever fellow and a great fly.    There are quite a few variations, the most common one is to tie the wings down the side. Another is one by Steve Parton, his has a darker tapering body tied round the bend and has no wing. He calls his one the Emergent Tobacco Sedge.
The original mix for the body is described as a light tobacco colour, achieved by mixing 70% cinnamon and 30% yellow seal?s fur.
The mix I use is equal amounts of light and dark cinnamon and yellow seal?s fur.

Instructions assume right-handed tyers

THREAD ? Yellow 6/0
BODY ? Seal?s Fur, mix as above
RIB ? Flat Gold Tinsel
