Mink can be very useful indeed for a whole range of things. "Zonker" type flies called "minkies" are also often dressed with strips of it, as it is tough, and easilly used for this. Once again, Mink comes in every natural colour from pure white to jet black, with many buffs, reds. browns, etc. in between, and also in striped and other marked variations. Often referred to as "mutations". All the pieces below are from wild ( feral) or farmed mink. I have no fur from any truly wild mink. The fur varies very widely in quality.Large quantities are still used by the fur trade, and it is widely available. The mink masks shown have proven useful for a number of things. They can usually be obtained from furriers as offcuts. One may also obtain "scrap" fur from a number of sources Peter Palms kindly gave me permission to use some of their pelt photos on this site. The pictures of the pieces are all from fur in my possession. One may dye this fur as well.
