Title: Wild Feathers
Post by: Black-Don on May 01, 2011, 10:57:35 PM
I came across some, what I assume were, hen Blackie tail feathers the other day and have stuck them in the freezer. Is this enough to kill any bugs before adding them to my feather collection ?

I left mine in some water with some detergent for a day or two, dried off and that's it. Feathers look the same as they did a few months ago.

Mr Lucky?

I think so, if my wife found the bloody remains of road kill in my pocket it would be the end of more than my flytying!!

In the past I have used the microwave method on some pheasant tails and a heron feather and not had any trouble.
