Title: Sea bass flys
Post by: SoldierPmr on October 08, 2014, 08:37:24 PM
Never been fly fishing for bass having a scan I noticed most fleas for them tend to have eyes. Any one got any experience fishing the flea for them?

I've tied up a random fly out of stuff I had laying around ie.
body: Glo  bright blue yarn
Rib: silver wire
Wing: black squirrel tail, collie dog hair and some sparkle.

Would something like this be successful as it looks like a abomination to me lol.[attachimg=1]

That would work after dusk when black flies are best , might foul and wrap a bit which you dont want especially in the dark.

All you need for Bass are some Clousers and a few Gurglers for fishing the surface, the vital bit is being in the right place at the right time.

Do colours matter much?

Yes ,Clousers in olive over white, pink over white ,chartreuse over white and black over orange all work well.Never done much with blue which is popular in commercial bought flies .
For Gurglers all black, olive or white is fine, these work like a popper so the surface disturbance is more important than colour.

Have you seen the 'Fleas' in bunks post? Yours looks positively tame by comparison :D
Cracking effort from random materials!
