Title: Salmon Fly - 'Ardentilly' or similar
Post by: diogg on October 06, 2015, 09:49:35 AM
Good morning, all

I have had a request for a fly called the "Ardentilly' or similar name.  I have never heard of it and wondered if anyone knows about it, and if so is prepared to share the dressing.

Many thanks,

David

A Spey Fly with connections to Megan Boyd of Kintradwell. Another in the black & yellow mould colours of which are supposedly effective Speyside. Arndilly being one of the  Spey beats near Craigellachie a lower middle section. A relative modern fly not possessing the traditional Spey features.
Tight Lines

Thank you very much, gents - will check to see if this is the fly about which my friend has been told.

Thanks again for the advice above - my friend seems to be very happy with the flies I tied for him based on Fishtales' dressing.  I went for the straight red head, rather than the red ring - various pics I found suggested I wasn't too far wrong in doing so - besides, I wasn't sure how I was going to do the ring!

Happy new-ish season,

David
