Title: Jig hooks
Post by: alba on May 31, 2017, 10:51:38 PM
Getting a hell of a lot of snags and lost flees in recent visits, never used nymphs on jig hooks before. Can anyone advise on where to start, what size beads with hook size etc.

I use jig hooks for  my larger nymphs, They make a big difference in preventing snags. I use Fulling Mill hooks. As far as bead size goes that  depends on the speed and depth of the current. I use everything from 1 to 4 mm tungsten beads and probably use 2mm most often. I might even have some bigger beads than that!

Cheers Fred, I'll order various sized hooks up and vary the beads till I find what's right.
