today i bought a floatant as named above, and i see it is just a jar of liquid, how to i apply it to the flys and is it safe to use my fingers??

Stephen,

I think I have used this floatant.  If it's the same stuff it came in a wide neck bottle so that the fly could be attached to the leader and then immersed.  You then let it dry or assist by blowing, false casting or whatever. No need to use your fingers.
