This is Bob Wyatt?s Dirty Duster.
A simple fly to tie, but like many flies, its simplicity belies its effectiveness.
This is Bob?s variation of the classic Grey Duster. He improved on the original by tying it on a curved hook and by clipping the hackle underneath.
When you fish with this one, treat the hackle only with floatant.

Instructions assume right-handed tyers.

HOOK ? Kamasan B100 #16
THREAD ? UTC 70 Yellow
BODY/THORAX ? Hare?s Mask
RIB ? Tag End of Tying Thread
HACKLE ? Badger Cock

STEP 1
Attach the thread, but don?t cut the tag-end, this will be the rib later.

STEP 2
Tie in the hackle, dull side uppermost. Then continue wrapping the thread down and well round the bend.

STEP 3
Apply a pinch of dubbing to the thread and wrap to form the body and thorax. After forming the body/thorax take the thread one turn past the hackle.

STEP 4
Follow with a counter-wrapped rib.  Tie off in front (to the right) of the hackle.

STEP 5
Wrap the hackle. Two turns down over the thorax followed by  two turns back toward the head, then tie off.

STEP 6
Whipfinish, then trim the hackle underneath.

STEP 7
          Varnish to complete the fly.
