I came across this site which identifies the feathers from the bird that you might find when out walking but it makes a good fly tying source for someone new trying to recognise the feathers for tying.

That is an excellent resource Sandy. Very helpful.

Agree, well done!

Go and look beyond the ranges,
Something lost beyond the ranges,
Lost and waiting for you,
Go."

Thank Donald (Black Don) and his Cinnamon and Gold thread. If I hadn't been Googling for Partridge tail feathers I wouldn't have found it :)

Yep I agree also. Great link

Black-Don

I agree, great link, I've just added it to my fishing stuff folder in favourites.

I must admit that in the past I never really brought home feathers I'd found but this kind of encourages you to do so in the knowledge you'll be able to identify them.

Great site there!

I've found that the feathers from a paradise shellduck or big canada goose here can pretty much resemble what you get from pheasant tail, and it's free!

Great Post,

I was given a box of feathers/wings by an old friend, some of which I new and have used  but a few which I could not identify. This site has helped me,

thanks.
