I ran out of silver wire yesterday so a visit to the local wool shop was in order this morning.  See the picture. The spool of metallic gold cost £1.26 a few years ago for 43.7 yards.  Today it is hanked at 8.7 yards and costs £1.25.  Now there's real inflation for you.

But still a bloody sight cheaper than tackle shops and I've never had a troot complain.  It splits down to about six strands for smaller flees.
