Grouse and Claret is a much underused fly these days. There are few better patterns for Scottish lochs.

Agree
'til a voice as bad as conscience,
rang interminable changes,
on an everlasting whisper,
day and night repeated so-
"Something hidden, go and find it,
Go and look beyond the ranges,
Something lost beyond the ranges,
Lost and waiting for you,
Go."

The grouse and green too. I had a great day on Fionn with this fly during the Mayfly a few years ago. As it happens, I've never heard of the Grouse and Claret although the Mallard and claret is a staple. The dry pheasant tail used to be the staple fly for imitating the Blue Winged Olive.

John Gray has some nice pics of the classic flies. Scroll down to "Scottish Loch Flies";
