Fly Choice

Being very new to the world of fly fishing, having just started last summer and knowing next to nothing about it but addicted all the same. I was wondering if anyone could offer any tips on choosing different flies for different conditions?

i don't tie any of my own flies...... yet.  I'm going to try and learn this summer when i get back to orkney. Thanks for all the advice folks i'll be testing them out as much as possible come easter holidays
