A pal told me about a Caithness Quality Flies who ties to order and i have seen some of his stuff and they were very tidy, they started at £1. It would depend on how quick you can knock them out to how much you make but if it is just for a friend and you only tie occasionally you will never make money for the time you send making them.

QuoteDyson vacuum cleaners are not made in the UK any more, they had to ship-out to compete

They shipped so the owner could make more money than he already did. The price never dropped but certainly made them cheaper. That is the reason, nothing to do with competition.
The Dyson was always "over priced" for what it was but was marketed/advertised aggressively. So much so that everybody else came on the bandwagon with "lookalike" models.

PS To get back on track with the original post.
I bought a few flies from Caithness? Why you ask when I tie my own?
Because it was cheaper than having to buy in the materials to tie a few oddies I did not have in my box.
They flies are competent & at £1 each are about right priced.
