hi folks!

i'm trying to tie one of these:[attachimg=1]

the recipe (from an american pattern book) specifies 3/8" evasote foam for the head. i've done a bit of rooting around the web and i can't find anything over1/8". can anyone suggest a source or maybe a possible alternative material? an old camping mat, perhaps?

in case anyone's interested, it's called a muskie lure originally based on the john betts bull-it-perch (been trying to find that as well....), modified by bill scherer. it's got a very interesting diving vane/lip made out of 0.016 plastic. i'm using the plastic used for stiffening shirt collars and, in the absence of a micrometer, hoping that'll do!!

here's the link to the pattern book: http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=LOFDXjrLkvAC&pg=PA124&lpg=PA124&dq=john+betts+fly+patterns&source=bl&ots=HbX2FxJ73W&sig=xBmX_7ZCaiSBgOPDrkjV5Pb2IOI&hl=en&sa=X&ei=jPwHUp78CoTgOviFgIAE#v=onepage&q=john%20betts%20fly%20patterns&f=false
