As buzzers go the Blakeston's is quite a complicated tie, but I think well worth the effort. There are few better mid to deep water buzzers about.

Instructions assume right-handed tyers

HOOK ? Kamasan B420 #12
THREAD ? Orange
RIB ? 4LB Clear Mono
BACK ? Medium Pearl Tinsel
BODY ? Black Floss
CHEEKS ? 4 strands Glo-Brite #7
THORAX COVER ? Peacock Herl
THORAX ? Black Floss
HEAD ? Orange

STEP 1
Take a length of mono and ?nibble? the end. This will make it easier to tie in and, more importantly, will make it very secure.

Then attach the thread and tie the mono in.

STEP 2
Tie in the ?shell? back.

STEP 3
Tie in the floss for the body taking the thread back up to the thorax.

STEP 4
Wrap the floss to form the body and tie off.

STEP 5
Pull the back over the top and tie off.

STEP 6
Rib with the mono.

STEP 7
Tie in the cheeks. Four strands on each side.

STEP 8
Tie in the Peacock Herl.

STEP 9
Advance the thread and tie in the black floss for the thorax.

STEP 10
Form the thorax by wrapping the floss to the body then back to the tie in point.

STEP 11
Pull the cheeks forward on both sides and tie off.

STEP 12
Pull the herl over the top of the thorax and tie down.

STEP 13
Finally whipfinish and varnish for the completed fly.
