Title: A small series of quotes
Post by: Fishtales on November 17, 2005, 11:18:27 PM
There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.

Last year I went fishing with Salvador Dali. He was using a dotted line. He caught every other fish.

Steven Wright (1955 - )

Time is but the stream I go a-fishing in. I drink at it; but while I drink, I see the sandy bottom and detect how shallow it is. Its thin current slides away, but eternity remains. I would drink deeper; fish fill the sky, whose bottom is pebbly with stars. I cannot count one. I know not the first letter of the alphabet. I have always been regretting that I was not as wise as the day I was born.

Henry David Thoreau (1817 - 1862)

A fishing rod is a stick with a hook at one end and a fool at the other.

Samuel Johnson (1709 - 1784)

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.

Jimmy Cannon

Fishing is a delusion entirely surrounded by liars in old clothes.

Don Marquis (1878 - 1937)

Fishing gives you a sense of where you fit in the scheme of things - Your place in the universe...I, mean, here I am, one small guy with a fishing pole on this vast beach and out there in the blue expanse of ocean are these hundreds of millions of fish...laughing at me.

Unknown

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

Doug Larson

Many go fishing without knowing it is fish they are after.

Henry David Thoreau (1817 - 1862)
