Title: General Purpose Float Rod
Post by: Wildfisher on June 09, 2023, 11:53:57 AM
Need some advice from you chaps who have coarse fishing experience.

What rod should I buy for general purpose float fishing? The target will be perch in some local swamp ponds, perhaps roach if there are any.  I already have a decent small fixed spool reel. I don't want to spend a lot as this is a rod that will only get very occasional use.

What say thee?

£20 to £45 plus postage will get you a decent float (or pellet waggler) rod from Ron Thompson, Shakey to Diawa.

Plenty of choice, but best to handle a few (with your reel mounted) to see how they balance as the 13ft rods do need a bit of mass to the reel, otherwise like a similar length salmon rod, they can put quite a bit of stress on the shoulder over a day.
