Title: BBC Hebrides - Islands on the Edge
Post by: waafisher on May 06, 2013, 09:09:18 PM
Folks - don't miss the start of this amazing series on BBC 1 tonight at 9am. The trailers are fantastic and although biased tonight  has a focus on Islay and Jura. Worth the licence fee.

Some of the footage was wonderful. Pretty much a story that's been told over and over again, but still a good watch.

Obe Wan's voice over was OK.   :D

I am sure some of the footage has been shown before as I remember the stag getting gored during the rut.

Still a great programme though.

To be honest apart from the wonderful footage I found it a bit clichéd and Ewen's delivery was verging on the miserable.

My neighbour was on it - and he's certainly miserable :D

Maybe I'm hard to please? :?

Same here.

Still, anything that'll boost the black pudding sales or otherwise put a few quid in the direction of those living on the edge, can't be a bad thing.

Missed episode 2 last night but just watched in on iPlayer.

Obe Wan was certainly in dreary mode; I fell asleep 1/2 way through it.

I think the tourist board will be happy, as one of my neighbours said, it's a shame it's all gone Disney. No doubting the quality of the photography, but to drag all that HD(or possibly 3D) camera gear around means wild shots will be few and far between. EW is no Attenborough is he, but I am looking forward to the next one as native British Wildlife on the telly is a bit rare.

Just had me wondering when I saw the name Attenborough mentioned.

Auld David is getting on in life and still for me the best presenter/ narrator on Natural history programs for my money.

Watched Hebrides narrated by Ewan McGregor and to me he is ok      just!

Question is who follows in the master Attenborough's footsteps when his time comes ...surely not Chris Packam ? Anyone else in the frame

Packham is supposedly Attenborough's choice.

It is tale of shattered dreams broken hearts and luck over talent  :(

Nah not really its a tale of ego presumption and WTF is Fogle doing being on a national photographic competition judging panel.

I took several months to conceive practice and refine my idea braving wind and rain to recce conditions in a specific location. I then had to get a band to that location at just the right time.

Some other bloke got lucky and caught a picture of some lightning over a windfarm.

Fogle had the deciding vote.

Travelled all the way to the national theatre in London

Vapid bufoon  :gay4

I'm not bitter though
