Title: It can't be!!
Post by: Fishtales on April 22, 2009, 06:35:08 PM
I came across a flowering Hawthorn yesterday, that has got to be at least three weeks early! The earliest record I have is May 3rd 2007, all the rest are the middle of May.

The Siskin are back in the garden too. I saw a pair of them on the nut feeder last night. Just need the Gold Finches and that is them all back :)

question is, is it due to global warming or bird flu?

First Cuckoo this morning, also removed first tick of the season from the dog.
It will be midgies tomorrow!

A neighbour maintains he saw midgies last week also.
Folklore here has it that it is the males who hatch first- and they don't bite.

I've just been out walking the dog and been bitten by midges-in April! :? Planning on a camping trip this weekend-will need to dig out the skin so soft.

Goldfinches at Carmyllie a week ago. Frogspawn seems a bit late around our way this year though. None around at all but there were hatched tadpoles galore up Glen Lyon 2 weeks ago.
