Good news for ADAA members and potential ADAA members. The Association has been successful in leasing the Balbithan and Torryburn fishing's on the Don for the 2012 season.
The fishings extend on the north bank from above the metal bridge at Kintore and join the existing upper Fintray Association water, with its parking area at Boat of Hatton and on the south from Tuach Burn for approx. 2.2 miles downstream. Fly fishing only for trout, but no Sunday fishing on this beat. Spinning may be allowed for salmon, but this is not clear from the info. I have, so check with the ADAA.
This long double bank beat has apparently been lightly fished for some time and Bob Dey, ADAA President, says that on walking the beat he noted large numbers of excellent big trout moving.
Even before this the amount of quality water available to ADAA members was impressive, now it is truly phenomenal.
Further good news, for genuine wild fishers, is there will be no trout stocked at Parkhill this year. Long may that continue. :D

Incidentally, as many of you will know, the ADAA like many associations that actually own a huge number of valuable fishing assets (rather than just lease them) there is a one-off joining fee (£275) after which only an annual membership is payable (currently £190 / year). New members can now spread the cost of the joining fee over their first two years of membership. Membership is of course limited to a 25 mile radius of Aberdeen, but quite a few members of this forum are within that limit.
Anyone interested should PM diverdave.
Non resident season tickets are also available for those residing more than 25 miles from Aberdeen. Expensive, but perhaps not so much if you are a salmon fisher.

Thats a good bit of water Fred and well within driving distance for an evening after work.
Membership of the ADAA really is good value for money. Looking forward to early Feb.

Back in the late 1970s I fished it a few times, just above the ADAA Upper Fintray beat Billy. The farmer used to let us on for trout. There were some nice fish in there back then. I guess it will be even better now.
