Title: Orkney Accommodation?
Post by: murray1228 on March 26, 2007, 01:46:42 PM
Hi Folks,

Heading up to Orkney with a mate to fish the lochs on the Mainland for a few days in June. Can anyone recommend some cheap and cheerful accommodation? I was thinking about either a b&b or a static caravan.

Many thanks,

Murray

Hi Murray

You might want to give http://www.caravanorkney.co.uk a look. Davie and Kay are super folk, and the caravan is pretty much slap bang in the middle of the west mainland lochs. Davie fishes himself so he should be able to give you a few pointers on what lochs are fishing well.
The Orkney Trout Fishing Association website is also worth a look http://www.orkneytroutfishing.co.uk/ and has a good list of flies that you might want to stock up on before you go.
I tied a peach/orange muddler hedgehog last year which was deadly all last season.
I would also recommend tying on an Ace of Spades if you fish Swannay, and hold on tight!  :D
Have a good trip!

Steven

Hi Guys,

If any of you are ever looking for Accommodation in Orkney, then my sister runs a B&B in Stromness. Very central and right opposite the main ferry terminal and address is below:

Mrs Sinclair
45 John Street
Stromness
Orkney
KW16 3AD

Web: www.45johnstreet.co.uk

Private message me for Phone number or email address, this is a first class family run b&b, but then again, I suppose I might be a tad biased!!
