Fishtales

Before I start, don't anybody take this to heart, I am talking in general :)

There is a knack to fishing WF profiles and it takes time and practice to get it right. DT's are better for beginners and bad casters who can't seem to get the timing right and are putting extra line out through the top eye, try that with a WF and it ends up stuck in the bank behind you, round your neck or in a heap in front. I prefer the WF when hill loch fishing as I don't have to false cast as much, therefore less chance of getting caught in the heather. I have used both DT and WF and find no difference in presentation either on a loch or river.
Don't worry, be happy.

Carried it in full, then carry it out empty.

Nice to see another DT fan. Its a dying breed.

QuoteYou won't cast further with a W.F. , just get the distance more quickly and easier than a D.T. This is where really good casting is called for

Allan,
I saw this demonstrated at the Game Fair in Scone last year, when Jim Tomlinson cast out a WF7 to the backing, then changed to a 5wt rod with a double taper line and proceeded to do the same thing. Both times into a strong headwind.

I don't think it matters how far you cast, there will always be a troot rising beyond your casting capabilities. :)

Swithun: Not met yet, but hopefully sometime in the future.
