Anyone have a Fuji camera XP50 or XP60 or another water proof camera, I killed my last compact by falling in. Also good to take underwater photos of fish and it seems the price has become reasonable?

I think this is about the best available and for a reasonable price;

Here's a set of reviews which may be of interest;

Looks good Mike, though it costs more, read mostly good reviews but some bad with water ingress, something to think about, main attraction of the Fuji was the cost, if it does fail at least I didnt spend much on it, also tried one at work a few months ago (but not underwater), but maybe should save up and buy a better camera next year. We do own a DSLR and I usually think of compacts as disposable, drop them down clifts, fall into water etc after drowning my last one and taking out three phones its time to go waterproof   :lol:

Yes, I suppose it all really depends on what you want to do with it, and how much you want to spend.  I don't like the Fujis, had two and they caused me nothing but problems. However, I have never been a "camera buff" and have generally been unlucky with them. I do have a couple of good ones but I don't even bother taking them fishing any more, if I did that would more or less guarantee a blank, and if it didn't the camera would most likely not work anyway, or I would fall down and break it!

If you want something cheaper have a look at some of these:;

or even the disposables; http://www.boots.com/en/Kodak-sport-single-use-waterproof-camera_1209313/

i've got the lumix ft3 which was around £150 but takes far better photos than the fuji (which i tried for the same reasons as you, then returned 'cos it was so bad). it's survived canoeing/kayaking, canyoning and even being crushed in the car door.

i would have to add that the picture quality still isn't quite as good as the non-submersible types (my canon ixus was superb, although an afternoon's swffing soon put paid to it :(), but it's better than a new camera every other trip!

Yes there is always a reason why its cheaper, some good comments about the Lumix, maybe I should just wait and save up a little bit more its not much dearer for the TS4, sounds like you pair have similar issues   :lol:

Thinking about it Dave's review backed up Mikes and I'll wait till I can afford the Lumix !
Cheers guys

Its back  :shock:

Try to modify my post to add this but it dissappeared,

Thinking about it Daves review who is very much on the same wave lenght as me backed up Mikes review and if spending the money on a dedicated camera I might as well get better photos, the other thing I'm considering is finally getting a smart phone and one of these in particular, so maybe atick with the phone this year with its 5mp snapper.

After killing three phones, sometimes with very little water involved, ok so it did rain all day but I didnt even fall in  :roll:
I'm only buyiny waterproof phones from now on!

I have had two fuji cameras and quite like the waterproof one I have now. Its the XP with built in GPS. Not as good a photo as my last Fuji but still decent.
It turns out okay photos for a compact and I have taken some nice shots under the water on the don.

I have a nikon digital SLR which I carry on the hills but would be too scared to take it out on the river. I have no such fears with the XP.

The Lumix does for me. First waterproof I've owned and I'm happy with it, simple to use and the video function has captured very nicely some troot being released.
