do fly rods or any other rod lose their capability for casting with constant use,,,does the blank start to deteriorate with use or temp changes over the years,,??   just a thought..

Fishtales

I'll say yes.

My last rod, after quite a few years service, just decided to stop working. It is difficult to explain but it just stopped being able to cast the line properly and the feel went out of it. I replaced it with the same model and using the same line and reel it performed the way the old rod did when it was working right. I tried the old rod again, thinking it was me, just to make sure and it was just the same, it didn't feel right or cast the line the way it used to.
Don't worry, be happy.

Carried it in full, then carry it out empty.

I thought my rod was going the same way,but I think its just me to be honest,
but it made me think if the molecular structure started to break down over time,,,must say it was interesting to hear about your experience ,I don't think I could have went out and bought the same rod as the one that died on me,
