i had a look in the online shop as i have been  looking for a new landing net recently. I would have have purchased one from here but want one that is not collapsable with a round net frame instead of the triangle ones that have the heay plastic bit inbetween the two side when opened out.

i dont want to spend more than 35 quid as i think for something that has no real engneering/scientific greatness to it would be worh any more.

i have checked out the sharpes belmont

http://www.sportfish.co.uk/product/31779/Belmont_Net_All_Black.html

and other than that i cant seem to find what im looking for. I Was in the angling centre in stirling yesterday and there was a few round ones but to be honest all were a bit flimsy at the area that locks them once opened out.

any suggestions would be  great.

cheers

Why do you need a net? I haven't used one in years and now I don't miss it, not even the getting caught in heather, fences or getting wrapped round my legs at the most inconvenient moments :) By the time I could get the net ready to use I could have the fish in, landed, photographed and released :) If it is the big nets you are looking for have you looked at the Gye nets.
Don't worry, be happy.

Carried it in full, then carry it out empty.

i use a wee wooden tennis bat style one for wading all the time and to be honest unless its worth taking a picture of i dont even remove the net from my back and just remove the hook with the fish in the water.

when the occasion arises and i do want a snap or if its too big to try and lift from the water (i have struggled in the past) then a decent solid net would come in handy.

Is is is solely for boat use as the wee bat one gets attached to my back with one of those magnetic net releases(very handy btw) .Last year in uist my pal nearly lost a fish of a lifetime(5lbs plus) because i couldnt get it into that wee tennis bat.

i also need something to accomadate any of our american cousins when at linlithgow loch (My local when time or distance is against me)

the sharpes ones are similair to the gye nets and the link above will show you what im looking for.I htink something like that if looked ater wll last a lifetime and woudl only go from oot of car to boat and that would be it.

cheers again

I have added 3 folding frame sea trout and 2 good round frame boat nets to the tackle shop. At ?25  to   ?33, they are a bit dearer, but might be worth a look nevertheless  :)
