Takes a lot of quality kit to do machining of titanium. A really hard metal. I have ice screws made in a Russian MIG plane factory and they will almost grind into rock behind the ice and still look unmarked. Russian climbers abroad used them as valuable currency to swap for other folks clothing or gear.
